Reflection

My name is Lim Xiang Yun. I am a student of the programme Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) with Honours. I am now currently semester 5, studying science for minor course.

In this semester, I am taking the course SSI 3013, Information and Communication Technology in Science. The lecturer of this course  is Mr. Azmi bin Ibrahim. From week 1 to week 14, many things had happened. I am indebted to many directly and indirectly. First, I would like to express my gratitude to my lecturer, Mr. Azmi. Thank you, Mr. Azmi for your guidance in our assignments by sharing views, information and skills selflessly. This had helped us in completing  our assignments. Besides, I would like to thank Mr. Azmi for his constant patience to us, especially when we are making mistakes or lost in the process of completing our assignments. Thank you for answering our never-ending-questions patiently. Next, not to forget also, thank you Mr. Azmi for treating us fresh nangka from your orchard. The taste and the aroma of the nangka is fantastic and unforgettable. Next, I would also thank my group mates, Gan Wei Sin and Kesavarthini a/p Annathurai. You guys are the most fantastic group mates that one can have. Thank you for answering my questions and helping me to overcome the obstacles that come to my way. Last but not least, thank you for always being my ultimate back up whenever I am lost.

There are many things that I had learnt during this course. First, I learnt about smart school and the challenges of implementing it. Smart school is beneficial to the development of our country as it can provide more manpower with high technology skills. Thus, we need to work hard to overcome the challenges that come to our way. Next, I learnt about data logger. Data logger is an electronic device that can analyse and record the change of surroundings in an effective and accurate way. The use of the data logger in school can enhance the students' motivation and interest in technology. Thus, it is highly beneficial for the students. Then, I  learnt about simulation. We used the STELLA simulation software to perform simulation. Simulation is a good way of learning where a student can see the trend that changes the elements which will affects the result of the phenomenon without doing experiment or experience it. This is suitable for the tasks that are hard to conduct experiment. Moreover, I also learnt how to capture and edit video. We used Windows Movie Maker to edit our video. Besides, we also learnt how to photoshop a picture using the Photoshop software. We had photoshop our header as a part of our assignment. Lastly, but not least we also learnt to create and design a blog.

In short, I have learnt many things in this course. The things that I learnt is beneficial and I will certainly apply it in my daily life and when I become a teacher.
